Wallace Group Starts 20 Year Anniversary Gala celebrations with Spectacular Kickoff in Choma

Choma, Southern Province — August 4, 2025
The Wallace Group’s Twentieth Anniversary Gala launched in vibrant style with a dynamic sport and development festival hosted at Choma Boarding School. The event brought together over 200 young athletes from nine hub sites across Southern Province, including Kafue, Mazabuka, Livingstone, and Choma itself.
The festival featured spirited tournaments in:
- 🏐 Netball: 11 Under-15 girls’ teams
- 🏀 Basketball: 10 Under-15 boys’ teams, 3 Under-13 boys’ teams, and 10 Under-15 girls’ teams
All participants, coaches, and organizers were proudly outfitted in brand-new kits, thanks to the generous support of global sportswear brand Macron, the official sponsor of #TAG2025.
Beyond the courts, the event showcased the transformative power of sport through interactive displays from the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Zambia (DOEZ) and the Enterprise initiative, offering youth pathways to life skills, entrepreneurship, and personal development.
The festival also included educational sessions focused on Gender-Based Violence, Equality, and Social Inclusion, reinforcing the event’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
Distinguished guests in attendance included:
- Martin Houghton-Brown, Secretary General, Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award
- Twaambo Chikoye, National Director, DOEZ
- Joan Smit, Africa Regional Director, World Netball
- Delegates from Wallace Group universities and Sport In Action
Student volunteers from the seven Wallace Group universities played a vital role, supporting Sport In Action coaches and coordinators to deliver a seamless and impactful experience.
With day one setting an inspiring tone, the Wallace Group’s anniversary celebrations promise to continue with energy, unity, and purpose—celebrating two decades of sport for development and youth empowerment.
