12 SIA Participants To be Trained as Dance Instructors.

Sport in Action officially kicked off its first ZOCA dance fitness certification class, marking an important step in using dance and physical activity as tools for youth empowerment, skills development, and income generation.
The 1st session brought together 12 programme participants who were introduced to the ZOCA dance fitness style through guided movement, choreography, and structured fitness routines. The focus of the class was to familiarize participants with core ZOCA movements while developing rhythm, coordination, endurance, and body awareness.
Beyond the physical aspects, participants were also exposed to the structure and discipline required of certified dance fitness instructors. Through active participation, they began building the confidence, stamina, and performance skills necessary to progress along the certification pathway and eventually deliver ZOCA classes independently.

Importantly, the session demonstrated how dance can be transformed into a viable livelihood. The practical and hands-on nature of the class reinforced the idea that consistent training and commitment can open doors to professional opportunities, allowing participants to earn income while promoting health and wellness in their communities.
The high energy levels, commitment, and eagerness to learn observed during the session reflected strong interest and significant potential for growth. This first class laid a solid foundation for building technical competence, consistency, and professionalism as the programme continues.
Overall, the kick-off of the ZOCA dance fitness class represents a meaningful investment in youth development, equipping young people with marketable skills that combine physical fitness, self-expression, and economic opportunity.
