Invest In Women And Girls. Accelerate Growth

On the 8th of March every year, Women’s Day is celebrated globally to honor and appreciate
women for their accomplishments and contributions to society. This special day recognizes
women’s achievements without divisions or distinctions based on nationality, ethnicity, culture,
or politics. It is a time for reflection on the progress made, a call for change, and a celebration of
the courage and determination exhibited by ordinary women who have played extraordinary
roles in shaping the history of their countries and communities.

In Zambia, the International Women’s Day theme for 2024 was “Invest in Women and Girls,
Accelerate Progress.” This theme emphasizes the significance of economic and social
empowerment in promoting gender inclusiveness. By investing in the education, health, and
overall well-being of women and girls, society can accelerate progress and create more
opportunities for all.

The campaign theme for International Women’s Day in 2024 is “Inspire Inclusion.” This theme
urges individuals and communities to take action and break down barriers, challenge
stereotypes, and create environments where all women are valued and respected. It
emphasizes the importance of creating a society that fosters inclusivity and ensures that every
woman has equal opportunities to thrive and succeed.

At Sport In Action, we are committed to supporting women through various platforms, including
Girls In Action (GIA). GIA is a program for girls and is led by girls. It aims to educate young girls
about various social and sexual activities that may hurt their upbringing. By equipping them with
the necessary knowledge, GIA helps empower girls to navigate through life confidently and
make informed decisions.

Through Girls In Action, we strive to create a safe and supportive environment where girls can
freely discuss their challenges, dreams, and aspirations. We believe that by empowering girls,
we empower entire communities. When girls are educated, healthy, and confident, they become
agents of change and contribute significantly to the progress and development of their societies.
International Women’s Day serves as a reminder that gender equality is not just a women’s
issue but a human rights issue. It is a day to celebrate the achievements of women, raise
awareness about ongoing challenges, and inspire individuals to take action towards creating a
more inclusive and equal world for all. Let us join hands in supporting and empowering women,
not just on this special day but every day, as we work towards a brighter and more equitable
future for everyone.
