THIRD GIRLS EMPOWERMENT COMMUNITY SPORTS FESTIVAL HELD
Sport in Action (SIA) has held its third successive Community Football Festival, as continuation to its programme of sustaining the empowerment of the young female football Coaches following their training in August, 2019.
The festival which attracted over 75 participants took place at Kaunda Square School on 26th October 2019 in Lusaka and was held in partnership with Zambia Streetfootball Network under the AAZ Project.
The objective of the festival is to continue empowering girls in sport as well as train, strengthen and educate young female football coaches in the country.
Hosts Sport In Action collaborated with Zambia Streetfootball Network Members namely Grassrootsoccer, Bauleni United Sport Academy, Chiparamba Breakthrough Sport Academy, Kalim Sports Council and Sport Aid Development, to host the successive festival.
Over the years, SIA has assessed the great importance of hosting such events at the community level considering that children from communities tend to develop interest in sports and begin to engage in sports activities to keep away from bad vices.
Additionally, the Community Football Festival will have a positive impact on the lives of the girls through empowering them in sports, thereby becoming agents of change in their various communities and ultimately pushing the organisation’s agenda forward.
