SPORT IN ACTION AND HLB PARTNER TO MITIGATE THE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE
Sport In Action in partnership with HLB have embarked on a project to mitigate climate change by planting trees in areas where Sport In Action is implementing sports programs.
In commemoration of World Environment Day which fell on 5th June, 2022, SIA and HLB spent 6th June, 2022 at Kabwata Play Park where HLB has been supporting SIA in planting trees. HLB also donated funds towards the maintenance of the Play Park.
This is in an effort to supplement government efforts by planting trees which will improve the environment and provide a conducive environment for children to use when they are having their various activities. The land at the Play Park was bare for a long time and this affected a lot of children with issues of dust, lack of shed and erosion during rainy season.
Sport In Action and HLB continue to contribute to the SDG No. 13 which focuses on taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
