Today, 15/09/2021, Sport In Action joins the rest of the country in commemorating the HIV Testing, Counselling and Treatment (HTCT) day under the theme: “Take the HIV test, Take control”.

SIA has today participated in a practical way by conducting additional activities to those already being conducted at community level including dissemination of HIV prevention education in market places, within the community residence with the help of HIV prevention champions and change agents. These messages have been coupled with those of Covid-19 prevention as well as general wellness that require regular medical check up by professional health workers. SIA has also taken the opportunity to distribute condoms and HIV self-testing kits to members of the community.

SIA in Luanshya District alone has scored the following achievements;
 over 11, 893 adolescent girls and young women reached with HIV education under the stepping stones mentorship programs
 over 7,049 priority populations including discordant couples, people living with HIV, migrant workers such as traders and non injecting drug users reached with standardised HIV education in the community
 over 140,000 condoms distributed
 over 430 clients tested for HIV and received results with an average positivity rate ranging between 25-35%
 Over 1,000 adolescent girls re-enrolled into schools both primary and secondary with complete tuition and uniform support

In the spirit of bringing the theme of this year’s HTCT day to life, SIA has conducted community HIV testing services as the volunteers provide education among the many High Impact Services.
