The Volunteer Zambia 2026 Group One cohort was officially welcomed today during an in-country induction held at the British High Commission in Lusaka.
The volunteers will spend the next eight weeks working alongside Sport in Action local coaches in various communities across Zambia, contributing to youth development through sport and community engagement.
The cohort was welcomed by Jason Trann, British Deputy High Commissioner to Zambia, who encouraged the volunteers to embrace the experience and make the most of their time in the country.“Zambia is a beautiful country,” he said, wishing the volunteers a successful placement and encouraging them to enjoy the experience while making a positive impact in the communities they will serve.

Mr. Trann also highlighted the value of long-standing partnerships and reflected on the official opening of the basketball court in Chipata last year as an example of the meaningful impact that can be achieved through collaboration.
Speaking during the induction, Sport in Action Executive Director Frankson Mushindu emphasized the organisation’s commitment to young people and community development.
“Our main goal is the young people in the communities,” he said. “We supplement government efforts by running programmes that are beneficial to young people through sport for development and sport development.”
